Agustín López Gagliasso, the young man involved in the tragic accident that resulted in the death of a mother and her daughter in Rosario during their vacation, now faces a formal charge of double homicide with eventual intent. In a recent hearing, prosecutors Mariana Prunotto and Valeria Piazza Iglesias accused him of causing the incident after having a dispute with a motorcyclist in the Arturo Illia tunnel, performing overtaking maneuvers at high speeds, and losing control of his car at over 120 km/h.
During the hearing, Agustín López Gagliasso was discharged and the charges were formally brought against him. Throughout the process, the young man recounted that after the accident, he approached the driver with whom he had had the altercation and asked him if he was aware of his actions, to which the driver responded controversially about the state of his car. These statements provoked a reaction from a witness who lunged at him until separated by a police officer.
Diego García, husband of one of the victims and father of the two deceased, described his feelings after the tragic event, mentioning the pain and confusion he experienced at that moment. Another witness, Giovanna R., who accompanied the young man in the vehicle, provided key testimony for Gagliasso's indictment, detailing how the events that triggered the tragedy occurred.
Giovanna recounted that during an incident in the tunnel, Gagliasso got into an argument with a motorcyclist and accelerated to catch up with him, ultimately losing control as he exited the tunnel and collided with Tania Gandolfi and her daughters, resulting in the immediate death of two of them. The youngest daughter managed to survive and received treatment in Córdoba.
It was determined through testimonies that the relationship between Giovanna and Agustín was one of friendship, not a couple, and that the young man was accompanying her at the time of the accident. The accounts of the witnesses and the victims have been crucial in clarifying the events that led to the indictment of Agustín López Gagliasso, who now faces a possible sentence of 8 to 25 years in prison for this tragic incident.
